Mischievious 3 year old!

This morning Henry decided to play with our food coloring while I was in the shower! When I came downstairs he was sitting in the living room with his hands covered in color and I asked him what it was and his reply was "the bird feeder." It took me a little while to figure out what he was talking about, but I guess he called it that because when we make Hummingbird food, we add red food coloring. It came out of the tile, but not out of the grout. And everything came off his hands and his clothes, except for the red. We're still working on getting the red out! Does anyone have any ideas for cleaning the grout?

Below is the red leftovers! Crazy, isn't it?

Amy, Henry outdid his Uncle Nate with a colored mess! We did have to repaint the hallway after Nate made his spook alley out of red food coloring. I don't remember his hands being that deeply colored!
What a clever, creative boy you are Henry J!!
I love you,

I can't wait to see him and his red hands at church tomorrow. You just know he thought he was doing the coolest thing ever!

He looks like the blueberry girl on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, only red. I love the second picture of him with that funny smile. What a cute kid.

Oh, that is funny! I'm so glad he wasn't on the carpet or a couch somewhere, though! Little stinker! Did you figure out what to do about the grout? Bleach or lemon juice, maybe? I guess if worse comes to worse, you can always add some new grout over the top...or dye it all red:)

Wow, I can't believe how calm you were about it, and that you got it all out! That's amazing! How cute though that he wanted to do the birdfeeder himself, independence- such a love/hate relationship with kids I hear.

Try a clorox bleach pen for the grout. I use it for everything. I don't know if it'll take all the red out, but it should come most of the way out. It's a gel so it can probably just be squeezed onto the grout and left to sit for a little while.
Maybe a magic eraser too??

I'm over here chuckling because I can see Jake doing just what Henry did. Jake's new thing is spraying everything. He'll find hairspray, carpet cleaner, windex, anything! and spray everything and everybody (poor dog :( ). I have to hide EVERYTHING with a nozzle.
Good luck!

Love the blog Amy! Just noticed it on Kandice and Troy's. (Yeah, I'm slow). As for the grout, try Oxiclean. We noticed that helps ours. Good luck!

I dont't know if it serves you right, but when you have great kids, they do great things. Old Hank is a great one and the effort to do something good is wonderful. You are a good mother for being so patient and understanding. So what did Adam think? Where was Ella during all of this?

All I have to say is...I'd kill him! It's a good thing he's yours and not mine. Eva wouldn't be alive today if she did that. Good luck.

Hey Amy,

Good to hear from you. I'm so glad to find your blog. Henry is at the very top of my little boy name list, but I'm not sure I need a food color artist at my house. It's already all I can do to keep up with the washable markers I keep finding uncapped everywhere.

So I want to know if Henry's hands are STILL red! Don't you love how kids seem to find everything they are NOT supposed to?
