Henry just started to sing and I couldn't be happier. He NEVER sings and I didn't realize this until Sherri came to visit last week with her kids, Chase and Anna. Chase is about 6 months older than Henry and he sings all the time, which made me realize that Henry just never sings. So I thought I'd work on that and I'm getting him to sing just a little. He only sings about 3 sounds at a time, but it sure is cute. And it doesn't exactly follow any resemblence to the song we are singing, but nevertheless, he's trying! Hooray.
On a similar note, I got him to pray for the first time a few nights ago. Usually when I ask if he wants to pray I get an emphatic NO! But he decided to try and it was really great. It's too bad Adam wasn't here to see it. I'll have to see if I can get him to keep doing it so that when we go home he can show his Daddy.

Leah's getting to be a fairly consistent pray-er, but there are still times when she refuses to pray.
Abby has finally moved on to saying her own prayers without any prompting from her parents.
Cute!! He's sure growing up!
So how's Sherri??!
Isn't it fun to see them doing new things. Abby has always been into singing. She could sing Child of God all the way through by the time she was two...then there's Leah who has MUCH LESS interest in singing. It wasn't until Christmas came along (with all of it's fun songs) that Leah started singing along more. It's so fun!
Can't wait to see you and your kids again...I'll bet Ella will have changed so much!

See - I wish Henry was one of the kids who liked to sing and liked to pray...but I guess they all come with their own personalities, right - kind of the way Abby and Leah are so different.
Ella is changing a lot. She is sitting so much better than when we first got here and she's getting stronger when she's on her tummy.
too cute, tone deaf is even cuter, we should know we have 4 like that, although katie is showing some signs of talents a little more than the rest of us
Amy - don't worry too much about the praying just yet...I didn't think Josh "got it" at ALL until about 2 months ago, I asked who wanted to say the prayer and Josh folded his arms and said, "Heavenly Father, thank you for this day" all on his own. So I guess he was paying attention after all:) I think its hard for them to wrap their little brains around praying since its "open ended" - you (hopefully) say something different every time. He gets the opening and closing, though. One of these days, Henry will surprise you and give the opening prayer in Sacrament Meeting or something, heehee:)
Hi Amy, I'm one of those fellas that Adam roomed with at BYU. I was there when a pipe busted and our basement apartment flooded. The RS came over and helped me dry out my organic chemistry notes. I'm happy to hear about Adam's family, and I hope you're all doing okay this winter. We just got 8 inches in St. Louis. Cool that Henry can sing. Like his Dad. Say hi to Adam for me, could you? Thanks, Steven Truscott
Hi Steven -
Thanks for finding us and for writing - I will definitely show this to Adam.
Can't wait until winter is OVER! :)
Amy
